Serang Mayor Syafrudin together with the TNI, related agencies and the community together cleaned up piles of garbage in the Cibanten River, Unyur Village, Serang District, Serang City, Banten

Syafrudin said the accumulation of waste occurred in addition to the actions of people who dumped garbage in rivers and garbage from various surrounding areas that were carried to the Cibanten River.

"This waste is an indication of the community, most of which are from the closest community, especially those where they live are close to the river," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, September 23.

Syafrudin hopes that the habit of people throwing garbage along the river can be stopped so that the accumulation of waste like today does not happen again which is possible to cause flooding.

"My hope is that especially the people of Serang City do not litter, do not throw garbage in the river so that garbage does not accumulate, water flows and does not flood," he said.

In addition, the mayor explained that this river flow continued to flow to irrigate rice fields.

"If there is a lot of garbage like this, the water does not flow and has a negative impact on the community," he said

Previously, people complained about the accumulation of garbage piling up under the Kidemang bridge, because the pungent smell of garbage was dominated by household waste made of plastic that was difficult to decompose
