JAKARTA - The Government of North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan Province, is developing climate villages as an effort to reduce carbon emissions, as well as anticipate climate change.

One of the criteria for climate village determination, he said, is the utilization of rainwater, food security, and the utilization of organic fertilizers. The North Penajam Paser Regency Environment Agency has fostered 12 of 54 villages and sub-districts in the area nicknamed Benuo Taka in the Climate Village Program. The villages established into climate villages include Telemow Villages, Bangun Mulya, Rintik, Babulu Darat and Babulu Laut Villages. The urban villages established into climate villages include Kampung Baru, Pemaluan, Gunung Seteng, Tanjung Tengah, Waru, as well as Maridan Sub-districts. The North Penajam Paser Regency Office seeks that the existence of climate villages continues to grow by carrying out environmental programs.
