Police Dismantle Home Industry Network For Gorilla Tobacco In Sentul Bogor

SERANG - The Serang Resort Police Narcotics Investigation Unit (Satres Narkoba) team revealed a network of home industries for the production of synthetic drugs or gorilla tobacco in an apartment in the Sentul area, Bogor Regency, West Java.

Serang Police Chief AKBP Wiwin Setiawan said the police arrested two perpetrators who produced and supplied gorilla tobacco raw materials in three different locations in Bogor Regency and East Jakarta.

The two gorilla tobacco producers, AS (27) were arrested in the Sentul apartment, Bogor Regency. Then IH (23) was arrested in the Bojonggede area, Bogor Regency.

Meanwhile, RF (31), a supplier of raw materials, was arrested in the Duren Sawit area, East Jakarta.

Of the three suspects, evidence was secured in the form of equipment and raw materials for making gorilla tobacco, two large packs of methamphetamine weighing 177 grams, two packs of marijuana, three large packs of gorilla tobacco produced, three units of digital scales, and two units of mobile phones.

"The three suspects were arrested at the end of last August. The role of AS and IH, producing gorilla tobacco, the role of RF in addition to producing also supplying gorilla tobacco raw materials and circulating them in the Greater Jakarta area," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 13.

The police chief said that the disclosure of the gorilla tobacco industry house began with the arrest of TR (20) in Serang City, thanks to public information in March 2023 with 10 grams of gorilla tobacco as evidence.

The suspect TR is a gorilla tobacco dealer in Serang City who admitted that he had only been in the drug business for two days but had already made a profit of Rp. 3 million.

Meanwhile, AKP Michael K Tandaya said that the US, IH and RF gorilla tobacco manufacturing business in apartments had been running since 2022. The distribution of production results was carried out through social media Instagram.

"The sales system is cut off, meaning that they do not know each other between dealers, the goal is not to be easily known by officers. US, IH and RF turnover from the gorilla tobacco manufacturing business reaches Rp600 million per month," he said.
