Probolinggo Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) deployed dozens of personnel to assist the process of extinguishing hotspots in the Bukit Teletubbies area, Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS), in Probolinggo Regency, East Java.

"Every day, we deploy dozens of people alternately. Even for locations that are not possible for water trucks to pass, the extinguishing of hotspots is carried out manually using cypress branches," said Acting Head of BPBD Probolinggo Regency Roby Siswanto as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, September 9.

According to him, there are still hotspots around Mount Bromo to date and dry vegetation that can become fuel is very thick, and the conditions there are steep slopes, making it difficult to extinguish the fire.

"The TNBTS Center is still calculating and it is estimated that tens of hectares of the burned area are still being calculated," he said.

He explained that the Mount Bromo tourist attraction was closed indefinitely for the safety and security of visitors.

"According to instructions from the TNBTS Center, visitors who have already ordered tickets can be rescheduled by contacting the call center," he said.

Roby explained that the plan to extinguish the fire will be divided into three points including the Watangan Block, Pengol Block, and Gunung Kursi, so that the team will be tasked with extinguishing the fire using a shooter jet and manual blackout.

"Until now, there are still hotspots in the Watangan Block. The BPBD team with the main equipment, tank trucks and double cabin pickups, is tasked with supplying water and extinguishing efforts in the Pengol Block," he said.
