Chairman of the Organizational, Cadreization and Membership Development Agency (BPOKK) of the Democratic Party Herman Khaeron confirmed that there was a meeting plan between PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri and Chairman of the Upper House of the Democratic Party Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY).

"There is. The plan exists. The idea exists," said Herman when met on the sidelines of the 22nd Anniversary of the Democratic Party's Birthday (HUT) at the DPP Democrat, Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Saturday, September 9.

Herman also said that the meeting between Megawati and SBY was the hope of all Indonesian people.

"Even if there is reconciliation between Pak SBY and Mrs. Mega, of course this is the hope of all Indonesian people," he said.

In line with that, the Coordinator of the DPP Spokesperson for the Democratic Party, Herzaky Mahendra Putra, also said that his party certainly wanted Megawati-SBY's meeting plan to be realized.

"Yes, of course, we want that meeting," said Herzaky when met on the same occasion.

However, Herzaky asked all parties to respect the process and not urge the meeting.

"After all, let it be a process. Don't rush. Don't rush. Both national figures. We haven't just met, we can give a lot of policies and wisdom and share for the Indonesian people in various corners of the country. Especially if the two meet, we can give other signals," he said.

Previously, PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said Megawati had the opportunity to meet SBY to discuss political cooperation in the 2024 presidential election.

"Yes, later (the assessment), the national winning team (already) was formed. This national winning team then received directions from the steering board of party leaders," said Hasto at the PDIP DPP office, Jakarta, Monday (4/9).

The opportunity arose after the Democrats officially revoked their support for the candidate for presidential candidate Anies Baswedan as well as leaving the Coalition for Change for Unity (KPP) after the Democratic Party's High Council held a meeting in Cikeas, Bogor, West Java, Friday (1/9).
