Budgeting IDR 12,478 Billion, 3 Culvert Points Expected To Overcome Floods Built In Tanjungpinang

KEPRI - Riau Islands Provincial Government (Kepri Provincial Government) built three box culverts aka culverts at three road points in Tanjungpinang City to overcome flooding in the area.

"This work is expected to overcome several flood points in the capital city, especially on several roads," said Riau Islands Governor Ansar Ahmad in Tanjungpinang, Friday, September 8, which was confiscated by Antara.

Ansar said the construction of the culverts came from the 2023 State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) of IDR 12.478 billion.

The three road points built by the culverts are one point on Jalan Raja Haji Fisabilillah and two points at the Adi Sucipto-Gesek (Hand Monument) intersection.

"After the culvert was built, the public did not need to worry about flooding again and the road was flooded if it rained," said Ansar.

According to Ansar, the construction of these culverts can divide the water, which so far, if it rains, it will rest at one point, resulting in a flood inundation.

So far, flooding has occurred on several roads in Tanjungpinang, one of which has been triggered by the water distribution system, which is still one estuary.

Ansar also asked the public to be patient with the closure of several roads due to the construction of these culverts. He hopes that the work can be completed properly and on time.

"I ask that contractors work as much as possible according to the set target," said Ansar.

Separately, the Acting Technical Activity Implementer (PPTK), Suji Hartanto, said that the construction work of these culverts uses APBN funds through the Regional Apparatus Working Unit for the National Road Implementation Agency (BPJN) at the PUPR Office of the Riau Islands Provincial Government.

The work starts from March 14, 2023, with the implementation period of 291 calendar days or completed in December 2023.

According to Suji, until now, the recapitulation of development work has reached 50 percent.

"On Jalan Raja Haji Fisabilillah, it remains only to paving, while the hand monument begins to work on culverts at intersections from the airport after the work at the intersection from the Riau Islands Hospital is complete, because the road diversion arrangements," he said.
