Yenny Wahid Values President In Lieu Of Jokowi Must Understand Political Dynamics: Pak Prabowo Has That Ability

JAKARTA - The daughter of the 4th President of the Republic of Indonesia Abdurrahman Wahid alias Gus Dur, Yenny Wahid, expressed her support for Gerindra Party Chair Prabowo Subianto as a presidential candidate (candidate) in 2024.

This representative figure of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) assesses that Prabowo is a suitable person to continue Indonesia's leadership after President Joko Widodo (Jokowi)'s term of office ends.

Yenny said that currently the challenges faced by the nation are geopolitical dynamics and tensions between countries.

"There are tensions in our territory, where Indonesia is close to countries that have a high potential for conflict," Yenny said while visiting Prabowo's residence in Kertanegara, South Jakarta, Wednesday, September 6.

Yenny said that the next President needed to anticipate the impact of global supply of chains that could occur in Indonesia from geopolitical tensions that occurred in other countries.

With the experience of holding the position of Minister of Defense in Jokowi's cabinet, Yenny views Prabowo as a qualified figure in facing these challenges.

"Well, leaders who will lead Indonesia in the future must understand the dynamics of geopolitical people who must have the ability to think strategy. I think people like Pak Prabowo have that ability," explained Yenny.

"So it is mandatory for me as a representation of Gus Dur's group to communicate intensely with Pak Prabowo to listen to his policies, to provide our aspirations about what the future state should be like," he added.

The meeting between Yenny and Prabowo in Kertanegara lasted for about an hour and a half. On the sidelines of the meeting, the wife of the late Gus Dur, Sinta Nuriyah, followed her son to meet Prabowo.

This meeting occurred after PKB left the coalition of parties supporting Prabowo as a presidential candidate in 2024 because the general chairman, Muhaimin Iskandar, became a candidate for vice president to accompany Anies Baswedan.
