Drought Hits 48 Villages In East Lombok

Drought hit 48 villages in East Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara.

In a coordination meeting to deal with the 2023 dry impact in Selong, Tuesday, East Lombok Regent HM Sukiman Azmy said the drought occurred in 213 hamlets in 48 villages spread across nine sub-districts.

"The total number of families experiencing drought due to the 2023 dry season is 23 thousand," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 5.

According to him, drought has the worst impact in the areas of Suela, Jerowaru, Keruak, and Aikmel sub-districts.

"Droughts that have lasted in recent months have had a serious impact on society," he said.

Residents living in drought have difficulty getting clean water supplies.

According to him, local governments distribute clean water aid to villages facing drought and lack of clean water.

In addition, local governments are designing long-term efforts to reduce the risk of drought during the dry season.
