Supporting Presidential And Vice Presidential Candidates In The 2024 Presidential Election, NU Management Will Be Sanctioned

Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board, Yahya Cholil Staquf or who is familiarly called Gus Yahya, emphasized that PBNU does not want to be brought up in the 2024 presidential election contestation.

PBNU also does not hesitate to impose sanctions on its management on behalf of NU to support the presidential and vice presidential candidates.

"If there is a presidential candidate acting on behalf of NU, but not an NU administrator, that is not justified. If there is an NU administrator then uses an NU institution for political activities, practical politics, we will immediately reprimand him," said Gus Yahya at the Merdeka Palace, Tuesday, September 5.

PBNU plans to hold a deliberation event for scholars and a major conference of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) on September 18, 2023. On Monday, Gus Yahya had also submitted the invitation to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

In his meeting with Jokowi, Gus Yahya emphasized that no political agenda was discussed. He was just trying to entertain with funny stories because Jokowi looked tired.

"There is absolutely nothing (political). I'm just joking about the funny kiai story. He's tired all day, meeting with various international figures," said Gus Yahya.
