JAKARTA - Member of the PKS faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Suhud Alynudin, disagreed with the appeal of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono who asked the civil servants of the DKI Provincial Government to echelon IV and above to buy electric motorcycles with a credit or installment system.
Suhud views that this actually causes the number of vehicles in the capital city to increase. As a result, traffic jams are getting worse.
"I think it's a strange policy. One of the problems in DKI Jakarta is traffic jams caused by the uncontrolled number of vehicles," Suhud told reporters, Friday, August 25.
Suhud emphasized that overcoming the pollution problem in Jakarta by increasing the number of vehicles from the appeal to purchase electric vehicles is the same as solving one problem but adding to the existing problems.
"The number of ASN in DKI Jakarta is 51,714. Coupled with PPPK employees is 6,395. Imagine if some of them paid in new cars or electric cars. It would increase the number of vehicles that fill the roads in Jakarta," he said.
Previously, Heru Budi asked civil servants within the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to echelon IV and above to buy electric motorcycles using a installment system using transportation allowances that are received every month.
This was revealed by Heru so that his subordinates could contribute to improving Jakarta's air quality by not using fuel vehicles which are one of the sources of pollution.
"We are advised. They (PNS echelon IV and above) already have transport money. Buy it, pay for an electric motorbike," said Heru at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Thursday, August 24.
Meanwhile, Assistant for Administration of the Regional Secretariat of DKI Jakarta Province Sigit Wijatmoko said, the average amount of echelon IV transportation allowances and above is sufficient to buy electric-powered motorcycles.
"Friends (echelon IV and above) have the ability. So, the money can be used as installments to buy a battery-fueled vehicle. It is given as a replacement for the provision of operational service vehicles," said Sigit.
"(The amount of allowance) is Rp. 6.5 million per month," he continued.
