YOGYAKARTA - An Indonesian citizen must have his name on the Final Election List (DPT) to be able to take part in the election. But what if the name is not on the Election DPT and what should be done?

The holding of the 2024 elections is getting closer so that every Indonesian citizen must check whether his name has been listed on the Election DPT. Sometimes the problem that people face before the election is that their name is not on the DPT, so they have to take care of it first.

Of course, everyone wants to participate in the democratic party which is held every five years to elect the presidential candidate they hope. Therefore, you need to make sure your name is registered on the Election DPT.

How to Check a Name Has Been Registered on the Election DPT

Checking names as participants in the Election DPT can be done online. The General Election Commission (KPU) has completed the process of matching and researching (coklit) voter lists for the 2024 election.

The public can check their own registered status or not on the DPT. Checking can be done online with the following steps:

  • Open the official website of the General Elections Commission (KPU): cekdptonline.kpu.go.id.
  • You will be asked to enter your KTP (NIK) or passport number, then click Search. If your name has been registered or recorded, data on the name and location of the polling place (TPS) will be displayed for you.
  • However, if your name has not been registered, then report it immediately on the page: laporpemilih.kpu.go.id.

How to Fix If the Name Is Not on the Election DPT

The following is a guide on how to deal with non-listing of names on the DPT or name writing errors, reported from the jdih.kpu.go.id page:

Name Not Listed on Election DPT

If you meet the requirements as a voter in the election but your name has not been registered, then you must contact the local KPU. You can come to the KPU office or call the official hotline number provided by the KPU. KPU officers will help you arrange or verify voter data to ensure whether you can be included in the DPT.

Name Writing Error

Errors in writing names on the DPT can occur due to several reasons, such as incorrect data input and data discrepancies on the KTP. If there is a spelling error in your name in the Election DPT, then you must document the error. You must ensure that the correct name matches what is written on your KTP or other official personal identification.

Submit Data Correction

KPU provides data repair services if you experience the two problems above. You must submit a written request for improvement or fill out a form provided by the KPU. In applying for repairs, you must attach a photocopy of your identity such as a KTP, passport or KK, and other necessary supporting evidence.

Deadline for Submission of Data Correction

You need to submit a correction as soon as possible after discovering that there is a data error in the DPT or the name has not been listed. You have to take care of it according to the time determined by the KPU.

Verification and Validation

After submitting an application for correction, the KPU will continue the process of verifying and validating your data as a voter. The KPU will double-check the information you submitted and ensure that the data matches the valid population data. Later, the KPU will notify you regarding the results of the submitted repair application.

Thus the information on how to manage names is not in the Election DPT. Considering that the holding of the General Election is only a short time away, you need to make sure from now on whether your name has been listed on the DPT or not.
