JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that the challenge of the future president is not easy and brave to decide unpopular policies. This was expressed by Jokowi when giving a state speech at the 2023 MPR Annual Session in the Plenary Meeting Room, Nusantara MPR/DPR/DPD, Wednesday 16 August. "The future challenge is not easy. Policy choices will be more difficult so that courage is needed, trust is needed. To make difficult decisions and decisions that are not popular," Jokowi said in his speech. For this reason, Jokowi reminded the president in the future to have high public trust and that every policy can run well and sustainably. "Therefore, in my opinion, the leader must have a public trust because trust is one of the determining factors. It can run or is a policy, whether or not it can be followed by a decision. This is political capital in leading a nation," he explained. In addition, he continued, a leader also needed support and cooperation from all components of the nation. For this reason, Jokowi thanked the Leaders of the High State Institution, religious leaders. Religious leaders and Indigenous leaders. "I also really appreciate the MPR's efforts to strengthen the national foundation, improve the understanding of the nation's ideology, review the substance and form of the main law of the state's direction, and strengthen international cooperation to contribute to solving global problems," he said. Jokowi said, DPR support is also very extraordinary, in supporting structural reforms, supporting efforts to improve governance, avoiding misappropriation of state financial management, and preparing for the implementation of the 2024 simultaneous elections.
