Following The DKI Provincial Government's Request, Apjatel Accelerates Fiber Optical Cable Arrangement For 1 Month

JAKARTA - General Chairperson of the Telecommunication Network Operators Association (Apjatel) Jerry Mangasas Swandy said that his party was following up on the request of the Jakarta Governor Heru Budi Hartono regarding the arrangement of fiber optic cables that were still sweeping.

The arrangement was carried out by cropping or grouping the aerial cable to be more organized. This work is carried out for one month.

"In 1 month, there will be an acceleration of grouping or combustion of fiber optic cables on main roads and road crossings so that the height of the cable is above 5 meters in accordance with the mandate of regulations," Jerry told VOI, Friday, August 11.

Meanwhile, there is also a plan to relocate aerial cables to planting cables and arrange integrated utility network facilities (SJUT) by placing network cables in ducting facilities.

However, this relocation was carried out after the ASEAN Summit which was held on September 5-7 in Jakarta was completed. Given, the DKI Provincial Government prohibits excavation work during the ASEAN Summit.

"The Bina Marga Department together with Apjatel will move the aerial cables (owned by the telecommunications network company) including PLN cables on the main road crossing to the planting cables," said Jerry.

Previously, the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono gave an ultimatum to the telecommunications network management companies to tidy up their fiber optic cables installed in the capital city.

This was stated by Heru in the aftermath of cases of residents entangled in fishing cables. There is a case of a resident entangled in an optical fiber cable and one of the victims died.

"So the point is that what is tidied up are vulnerable routes or routes from far to the protocol to the road, secondary lanes. Right, Jakarta is wide, yes. I ask them to tidy up and be responsible," said Heru.

Heru gave the company the opportunity to arrange the aerial cables for one month. Heru's request was conveyed by the Assistant for Development of the DKI Jakarta Regional Secretariat who summoned network companies some time ago.

If for the next one month there are still fiber optic cables that hang out in the air and consume again the victims of the accident, Heru threatens not to issue a network additional permit to the company concerned.

"Maybe we'll think about the permit. In the future, they need permits for additional networks, right," he said.
