Caught Stealing A Bag Containing Rp 23 Million In Cash, Battered Thief Judged By Masses

The bag containing Rp23 million was stolen by suspect A in Duren Sawit, East Jakarta.

The perpetrator of the theft with the initials A (24) was caught by residents after stealing a bag containing Rp 23 million in cash on Jalan Nusa Indah Raya Pondok Kopi, Duren Sawit sub-district, East Jakarta, Tuesday, August 8. The perpetrator was arrested and beaten by residents until he was battered.

According to the victim's statement, Arlando (18), the theft occurred when he was sending goods to a basic food shop. The perpetrator launched his action when the victim was careless when he put the flour in the shop with kenek.

But when Arlando was about to return to the truck he was carrying, he saw a man taking his bag on the driver's seat. The thief's actions were fairly easy, because the condition of the vehicle was not locked at that time, but only a closed window.

"When we were unloading the goods, only two sacks suddenly came out of the shop, we immediately found out that he (the perpetrator) was taking the bag through the left door, and thank God he was caught," Arlando told reporters, Tuesday, August 8.

In the action, the perpetrator with the initials A was not alone. He was assisted by one of his friends who managed to escape. When arrested, local residents who knew about the incident were suddenly emotional and judged the perpetrators.

About 10 minutes from the incident, a member of the Indonesian Air Force Provos who passed by and immediately intervened.

"There were members of the TNI who came, then I first secured the bag containing the deposit money of Rp. 23 million but unfortunately one more perpetrator fled by motorbike," he said.

For further processing, the perpetrator was taken to the Pondok Kopi Police Post in the condition of handcuffed by members of the Indonesian Air Force. Until now, the case is being handled by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Duren Sawit Police.
