JAKARTA - Member of Commission D of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Justin Adrian Untayana urged the DKI Provincial Government through the DKI Jakarta Bina Marga Office to install surveillance cameras or CCTV on every pedestrian bridge (JPO) in the capital city.

This, according to Justin, is an effort by the DKI Provincial Government to anticipate cases of theft of JPO footing iron plates that occurred repeatedly.

"With a lot of workforce as well as ASN underneath, I think the CCTV monitoring installation and so on should be able to be carried out," Justin said when contacted, Monday, August 7.

Justin assessed that the Bina Marga Office was able to spend a budget for CCTV placement at JPO-JPO. Because, this year, the Bina Marga Office received a budget allocation of IDR 4 trillion in the APBD.

"Bina Marga should be able to do that because their budget is large. They have a large number of contract workers," he said.

Justin warned that the DKI Provincial Government should not allow the theft of regional assets which resulted in an increase in the budget due to the allocation of JPO-JPO improvement whose assets were lost.

The DKI Provincial Government, continued Justin, also has a command center managed by the Bina Marga Office to supervise public facilities for 24 hours, and accommodate complaints from the public.

"They have a command center and what does this command center function? It's already running or not? Because making this JPO is not cheap and it also uses tax money. If it's not really guarded, I think it's not responsible for using the budget," he said.

Lack of supervision of public facilities actually harms the road users. As happened at JPO Sahabat, Jalan Raya Daan Mogot, Cengkareng District, West Jakarta. The stepping iron plate for pedestrians was stolen on August 2.

There are four sheets of JPO iron floors that were allegedly stolen by thieves. As a result of the loss of the floor of the iron plate, public access to cross the road through the JPO was blocked.

In fact, this is not the first time this has happened. In the first incident last June, there were 2 pieces of JPO iron floor plates that were missing and currently there are 4 pieces of iron floor plates that are missing again.

Then, another case of iron plate theft occurred at JPO Warung Hanger, Kalideres on the evening of Sunday, August 6. As a result of this incident, the West Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-dept. installed a safety line on the JPO section whose footing plate was lost.
