The Riau Islands Police (Kepri) and the Batam Food and Drug Supervision Center (BPOM) raided a warehouse where the sale of cosmetics, processed medicines and food did not have a distribution permit (illegal) from China in Batam.

"This is a warehouse, which includes cosmetics and food processing equipment as well as household necessities, all of which come from China and do not have a distribution permit from Balai POM, then there is no packaging, there is no company origin and there is no explanation of the raw materials for making the cosmetics, therefore we carried out raids accompanied by Balai POM," said Dirkrimsus Polda Kepri Kombes Nasriadi in Batam, Riau Islands, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, August 7.

From the results of the raid, it was found that 76,827 pieces (pcs) of illegal cosmetics, 385 pcs of medicine, 213 pcs of traditional medicine, 18,947 pcs of health supplements, 1,307 pcs of quasi medicine and 16,138 pcs of processed food.

Meanwhile, Head of Balai POM Batam Musthofa Anwari emphasized that cosmetics, medicines, and food processing products must have a distribution permit number.

"In this case, they sell or distribute cosmetics and food without a distribution permit," he said.

His party had found it difficult to find out the type of product, because the packaging only had language with Chinese characters, so they had to use a translator to find out the type of product.

From the results of calculations carried out by his party, the economic value of the evidence that was secured was approximately Rp. 1 billion.

"From the results of our calculations, the economic value is approximately one billion rupiah," said Musthofa.
