Receive Letter Of Determination Of Suspect Panji Gumilang, AGO Appoints Research Prosecutor Team

JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office (AGO) will go to the research prosecutor team to study the case file for the alleged blasphemy case with the suspect Panji Gumilang.

The formation of this team was after the Deputy Attorney General for General Crimes (Jampidum) received a notification letter for the determination of suspect number B/59.a/VIII/RES.1.1.1/2023/Dittipidum, dated August 1, 2023.

"The Jempidum will appoint a Team of Research Prosecutors (Jaksa P-16) in case handling and will study the case files received and provide complete instructions or not on case files," said Head of the AGO I Ketut Sumedana in a statement quoted on Saturday, August 5.

In the notification letter for the determination of the suspect, the leader of the Al Zaytun Islamic Boarding School was charged with Article 156a letter a of the Criminal Code and or Article 14 Paragraph (1) of Law Number 1 of 1946 concerning Criminal Law Regulations and / or Article 45a Paragraph (2) jo. Article 28 Paragraph (2) of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions.

Panji Gumilang has been named a suspect in the alleged blasphemy case. The head of the Al Zaytun Islamic Boarding School has also been detained at the Bareskrim detention center for the next 20 days, starting from August 2, 2023.
