Eight SIDAYR Screenboats From Australia Sail Towards Ambon, This Is Its Activity

The eight sailing boats participating in the Spice Island Darwin Ambon Yach Race (SIDAYR) departed from Darwin's coast, Australia, with a stunning final destination in Ambon City, Indonesia.

Von Vatskalits, Mayor of Darwin, excitedly released the departures of the eight sailing boats. Yacht The Lone Grainger, Finally, La Boheme, Nautilus Darwin, Balladier II, Endorfin, Boussole, andmen are the names of sailing boats to conquer challenging waters on their way to Amahusu Country, Ambon City.

"Eight sailing boats have been removed from the starting line to sail to the Amahusu State coast of Ambon City, predicted to arrive on August 7," said Nico Tulalessy, Ambon Chairman Sailing Community as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, August 5.

Challenges and adventures await the crew of 50 people in the challenging Darwin Ambon screen race.

Nico Tulalessy also hopes that the people in Amahusu Country and the entire city of Ambon will give a warm welcome to participants and tourists who will arrive from 7 to 12 August 2023. The event is expected to be a historic moment that enriches the culture and strengthens the bonds between the two countries.

Rico Hayat, Head of the Ambon City Tourism and Culture Office, revealed plans to warmly welcome SIDYAR participants. Various activities have been prepared to accommodate and pamper participants and visitors.

When the participants are close to Ambon, the event will include a visit to SMAN 11 Ambon on August 11, as well as a welcome event at Tirta Kencana on August 12. All of these steps aim to provide an unforgettable experience for the participants and strengthen cross-cultural relations.

"It is scheduled that on August 13 the screen competition participants will return to Darwin," he said.

The SIDAYR competition, which was first held in 1976, was stopped due to social conflict in 1999 and has been held again since 2007, but has decreased the number of participants.

Finally, it was held in 2019 with 11 boat participants, but did not dampen the enthusiasm of the participants and the community and the Ambon City government to continue the annual event.

The implementation of SIDAYR is also supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Ambon City Government, and Dinah Beach Cruising Yacht Association Incorporated.

DAYR was also initiated by a yacht club in Darwin, the Cruising Yacht Association of The Northern Territory Incorporated (CYANT) in 1976.
