Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, explained the reason why the DKI Provincial Government does not operate Transjakarta service hours with the Kalideres Terminal route to Soekarno-Hatta Airport such as regular buses.

During this trial period, Transjakarta operated a bus service coded SH1 in the morning and evening, which was 05.30'09.00 and at 16.30'22.00 WIB.

Syafrin explained that although the Transjakarta bus service to Soetta Airport is intended for the general public, the main target of passengers is airport employees.

"We hope that there will be an increase in ridership from workers who are active in the Soekarno-Hatta Airport area. The 24-hour operational operation continues to be evaluated. Why? Because the targeted market is workers," said Syafrin at the Fairmont Hotel, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, August 1.

If the DKI Provincial Government operates Transjakarta for the Kalideres-Soetta Airport route for 24 hours every day, Syafrin is of the view that this will burden operational costs.

This is because the majority of Transjakarta SH1 passengers are airport workers who only use services when leaving and returning from work.

"They have a sif-sif to enter and go home from the office. Of course that is more prioritized than operating 24 hours but then no passengers. This is even greater, right, the costs that must be borne for its operations," said Syafrin.

Syafrin said the bus service tariff to Soetta Airport was proposed at IDR 5,000 after the trial period was completed. The tariff amount of IDR 5,000 on the Kalideres-Soetta Airport route is a proposal from the results of their studies and surveys.

"Today, the DKTJ recommendation has been issued, which is proposed for the tariff, DKTJ proposes Rp5,000. Of course we will still discuss this at the provincial level, after we receive a letter from the DTKJ proposal," he said.

With the proposed Rp. 5,000 tariff, then the economic value of each customer service is Rp. 12 thousand, the DKI Provincial Government must provide a public service obligation (PSO) of Rp. 7 thousand per service.

"With the amount of Rp. 5,000, of course there will be subsidies because the economic rate is around Rp. 12 thousand per share. The difference (Rp. 7 thousand) is subsidized by the government," said Syafrin.

However, Syafrin said that the proposed Transjakarta tariff for entering Soetta Airport would still be discussed by the DKI Provincial Government, before it was approved or not.

"We will follow up based on DTKJ recommendations. We will try to see first. Right, today they just informed. So, from there we tried to detail it," explained Syafrin.

The Transjakarta service trial entering Soetta Airport has been carried out since July 5, 2023. After 2 weeks of trials, the Transjakarta bus route to Soetta was extended as of July 26. This is in line with the extension of the trial period for the Transjakarta bus service entering Soetta.

It was recorded that the number of bus service users with the Kalideres Terminal route to Soekarno-Hatta Airport was 14,222 people for about 3 weeks of testing.
