A GUNUNGAN PAPUA - A gun battle occurred when officers raided the headquarters of an armed criminal group (KKB) in Dekai District, Papua Mountains Province. Two KKB members were declared dead.

Papua Police Chief Inspector General Pol Mathius Fakhiri said during the shootout a Brimob member also suffered a gunshot wound to his thigh.

Fakhiri said, from the reports he received, six homemade and administrative firearms were secured by the authorities.

During this activity, the officers also confiscated eight rounds of ammunition of various calibers, various sharp weapons, traditional weapons such as axes, and arrows and bows.

Fakhiri said the injured Brimob member named Bharatu Jogianus Ricko who was a member of the Aman Nusa Task Force.

Currently Ricko is being treated at the Dekai Regional General Hospital. "The condition of the victim is conscious," he added.

He explained that the raid began with the attack on the Brimob Post which was carried out by the KKB on Monday, July 31 night.

The investigation was carried out by the authorities on Tuesday, August 1, then arrested AS, a member of the KKB Kopi Tua Heluka.
