JAKARTA - Freedom of expression in a democratic country is common. The Coordinator of the Indonesian Student and Youth Revolution Axis Action (PRMPI) Alfred Pabika urged the government to guarantee this.

"There is still a way to silence activists. The government must be present and guarantee freedom of expression," said Alfred in a written statement, Friday, July 28.

Alfred then gave an example of the silence he meant. He said, there are parties who intimidate the action carried out by his group in front of the DPR building.

"Activists experienced intimidation by unscrupulous party officials from one of the presidential candidates when voicing their aspirations or opinions in public regarding the food estate program and allegations of corruption in the procurement of defense equipment," he said.

Alfred did not elaborate on the person. It's just that, PRMPI felt the need to speak out because the program was considered a failure.

"And not on the side of society," he said.

This condition made Alfred ask for the silencing of activists to be stopped. Moreover, they are now back in action to voice their anxiety.

"Today the second action was held at the Horse Statue," he concluded.
