YOGYAKARTA Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) revealed a number of national projects that were not completed in 2024.

Basuki said, there are at least eight national strategic projects (PSN) under his ministry that will be requested for a dispensation of its completion.

Basuki conveyed that his party had written to the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto regarding the request.

"If the order of the Coordinating Minister is all PSN must be completed no later than the first semester of 2024. We can do that, but there are several (projects) in the second semester of 2024, so we ask for dispensation from him," Basuki told reporters in Jakarta, Wednesday, July 26.

According to Minister Basuki, eight national projects that will not be completed in the first semester of 2024 consist of five dams and three toll roads throughout Indonesia.

The five dams are Bener Dam in Central Java, Lau Simeme Dam in North Sumatra, Budong-Budong Dam in West Sulawesi, Bolango Ulu Dam in Gorontalo, and Mbay Dam in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

Meanwhile, the three toll road projects requested for completion dispensation are the Serang-Panimbang Toll Road, Patimban Toll Road, and Semarang-Demak Toll Road.

Basuki said that the completion of the eight PSNs had to withdraw to Semester II in 2024 due to a number of obstacles, one of which was the geographical type of land that was not easy to develop projects.

"The secretary general is currently making a letter because if there is no dispensation, the multi year contract (MYC) will not come out," said Basuki.

National Projects That Have Been Completed By The Ministry Of PUPR

Although there are 8 PSNs that have not been completed, Basuki claims that the Ministry of PUPR has completed most of the national projects mandated by the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs.

"As of July 2023, we have been able to Alhamdulillah complete 87 National Strategic Projects, 70 percent of the total set targets," said Basuki, quoted from Antara, Thursday, July 27, 2023.

A total of 87 PSN that have been completed include 36 dams, 2 irrigation projects, 27 toll roads, 4 non-toll roads, 3 drinking water supply systems (SPAM), 7 housing projects, 7 national cross-border gates (PLBN), and 1 education infrastructure.

Basuki added that his party has set 24 PSN projects that must be completed this year. The target projects include 15 dams, 5 toll roads, 2 housing projects, 1 irrigation, and 1 industrial area development.

One of the projects targeted for completion this year is 5 toll road projects which include the Sigli-Banda Aceh Toll Road, the Cimanggis-Cibitung Toll Road, the Pasuruan-Probolinggo Toll Road, the Cibitung-Cilincing Toll Road, and the Cinere-Jagorawi Toll Road.

Then for 15 dam projects, including the Keureuto and Rukoh Dams in Aceh, Lausimeme in North Sumatra, Margatiga in Lampung, Karian in Banten, Cipanas and Leuwikeris in West Java, Jlantah in Central Java, Sidan in Bali, Sepaku Semoi in East Kalimantan.

Furthermore, the Temef Dam in East Nusa Tenggara, Tiu S untuk di Nusa Tenggara Barat, Ameroro di Sulawesi Tenggara, Pamukkulu di Sulawesi Selatan, dan Lolak di Sulawesi Utara. Selain dam, Kementerian PUPR juga menargetkan penyelesaian proyek irigasi di Daerah Irigasi Lemcurang Sumatera Selatan.

The Minister of PUPR considers it necessary to pay attention to two aspects to be able to build effective public infrastructure.

First, in infrastructure development, it is prioritized for infrastructure needed by the community. Second, in addition to strategies, there needs to be prioritization in terms of implementation.

"This infrastructure is the foundation in the context of the Coordinating Minister for the Economy in designing economic growth in Indonesia, whatever is designed if there is no infrastructure, it will only be an idea," he said.
