JAKARTA - Consensys, a leading software technology company in the web3 sector, announced the results of a global opinion survey that was first conducted on web3 and crypto. The survey was conducted online by YouGov, an online data research group and international technology analytics.

This study obtained survey samples of 15,158 people aged 18-65 years during the research period from April 26 to May 18, 2023 in 15 countries on the African, American, Asian continents (including 1,015 respondents from Indonesia), and Europe. The results of this survey provide interesting and unique insights into the understanding and public views of the web3 and crypto ecosystems as a whole, surpassing previous surveys that only considered people's perception of investing in crypto assets.

The survey explores topics such as data privacy, crypto carbon footprint, the latest news cycle, and digital ownership. The survey findings show that people around the world are motivated to contribute and believe that they make valuable contributions online.

Research results show that people globally are motivated to build and believe that they are contributing valuable online. This survey is conducted in 15 countries, namely Argentina, Brazil, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Nigeria, South Africa, South Korea, Philippines, UK, United States, and Vietnam.

The survey results provide a strong picture of the widespread level of awareness of crypto and a strong push for ownership, as well as confidence in the future of positive crypto:- The incredible awareness of crypto: 92 percent of survey participants show awareness of crypto.

- Strong confidence in the future of crypto: More than a third of respondents familiar with the industry, expressing their confidence in crypto potential as the future of money (37 percent) and digital ownership (31 percent), exceeding associations with speculation (25 percent) or fraud (26 percent).

- The desire to have more: As many as 50 percent of respondents believe that they are providing additional value to the internet, while 67 percent of them believe they should have what they created on the internet. However, only 38 percent of respondents feel that they are adequately offset for the value and creativity they provide on the internet.

- Concerns regarding data privacy: As many as 83 percent of respondents revealed that data privacy is an important thing for them, 70 percent believe that they should get the share of profits the company gets from their data, and 79 percent want more control over their identity on the Internet. Survey results show an increasing desire in general to have controls on online identities, shared data, and fairer profits for those who contribute through online containers. In this new world, web3 and crypto allow global peer-to-peer networks that empower individuals.

Web3 helps overcome these desires by shifting identity control from third parties to individuals, as well as building new paradigms in value creation and community formation. People involved in crypto and web3, whether as software developers, crypto asset holders, or creating or buying NFT, are not just 'users' as they are usually defined, but directly contribute and help build their community and ecosystem as a whole.

Consensys sees the empowerment of the Builders as the primary goal, and focuses on supporting people everywhere to view web3 potential, the role they can play in their lives, and the tools they need to get started on. Today, Consensys revealed the identity of the developing brands to encourage people to see themselves and the world in different ways: redefining "builders" to be more inclusive for artists, community creators, collectors and ultimately, everyone. Further information on the evolution of the Consensys brand can be found in. Joe Lubin, Founder and CEO of Consensys, said, "This survey confirms the emergence of a decentralized belief paradigm that empowers users and communities. The era of the builders is in line with web3 etos where everyone can contribute. Consensys aim to be a reliable administrator for constructors and developers, supporting community empowerment and a global positive impact."

Indonesia may be the most progressive and promising country in leading to a user-supported and community-centric Internet. In the survey, 77 percent of respondents replied that they had added value to the Internet, a much higher percentage than most other countries and all Asian countries surveyed (for example Japan with a percentage of 40 percent).

The survey also revealed that the Indonesian people are the people who care the most about privacy in Asia and only lose to Nigeria globally (with 92 percent of respondents stating that data privacy is important to them).

Indonesia is also ranked second in the desire to share the profits the company gets from user data (81 percent), as well as to have more control over their user data (89 percent). In addition, Indonesia is also ranked first in Asia in confidence in digital ownership, which suggests that they should have things they created on the Internet.

Indonesians are also more aware of the Web3.0 concept compared to their Asian counterparts (with 23 percent of respondents stating that they have knowledge of Web3, compared to only 9 percent in Japan). Unlike some other Asian countries, Indonesia has the most positive and progressive perception of crypto, where crypto is considered a future currency (17 percent) and has the potential for digital ownership (15 percent), as well as an alternative to traditional financial ecosystems (9 percent). This finding shows that Indonesia, with its youth population, is very open to Web3.0 concepts and is in a good position to be one of the leading points in paradigm shifting towards a user-supported and community-centric Internet. These results also describe Indonesian users as future-oriented builder and creator, which contributes to the transformation of the new era of the Internet.

Inspired the Builder Side of Everyone with Global Virtual Hackathons Every day, wherever they are, people are increasingly adopting the power of web3 and crypto to become developers in the new internet. Consensys recently announced the launch of a global virtual hackathon aimed at gathering developers from around the world and giving them the power to build future solutions.

This shift in paradigm empowers individuals, returns power to them to actively contribute to creating a better world. In a user-supported and community-centric environment, decentralized trust and finance serve as a fundamental layer, enabling democratic global decentralized systems.

This new era of developers represents a shift from an adversarial and extractive relationship between organizations and customers, towards a more inclusive and fair model. Web3 is changing the future of the internet, providing individual spaces and agencies to develop in a previously impossible way, and helping them build the future they want. Consensys have interacted with some of these individuals to share their unique views with the world:- Harshit & Nitish - Musician and DJ (India): The community of web3 understands the essence of an artist. The music industry has long been controlled by central authorities limiting progress. Web3 changed this paradigm by allowing fans to directly contribute to the success of an artist. Musicians now have the power to create unique and directly connected experiences with their fans. We are inspired by the values, determinations, and courage that exist in this community. We look at ourselves in them and strive to provide a positive impact as well as improve lives. This is what makes us connected with this new community."

- Mika Black - AnuuWay (United States): Web3 removes boundaries and inspires individuals to find their group and grow together. This allows them to create the world they want. Web3 empowers the perpetrators of change in the world.
