The Number Of Traffic Violators In Central Java Increased 100 Percent, 73,342 Violators Were Reprimanded, 161,480 Violators Were Fined

Operation Patuh Candi 2023 has been held by the Central Java Police from 10 to 23 July 2023. During that period, the ranks of the Central Java Regional Police and the Resort Police carried out hundreds of traffic safety socialization activities to law enforcement on the highway.

"Operation Patuh Candi focuses the campaign to reduce fatality of accident victims and increase public awareness for traffic order," said Head of Public Relations of the Central Java Police, Kombes Stefanus Satake Bayu Setianto, Monday, July 24, in a written statement.

"Even so, taking action against violating road users is still being carried out, but there is no stationary raid," he added.

During the two weeks of operating activities, the Head of Public Relations explained that the ranks of the Central Java Regional Police recorded traffic violations of 235,342 incidents.

Of these, 73,342 violators received a warning, while 161,480 violators were ticketed.

"In detail, 25,029 violators were ticketed manually, 19,517 violators were ticketed through static ETLE and 116,934 violators were ticketed via mobile ETLE. From this data, it can be seen that the majority of prosecutions were carried out through ETLE facilities, both static and mobile," he explained.

The types of violations that dominate, continued Satake, are drivers who do not wear helems, do not wear seat belts, exceeding the limits of speed and non-standard exhaust.

Compared to 2022, the Head of Public Relations continued, the prosecution of traffic violations in Operation Patuh 2023 increased dramatically.

He revealed, in 2022, 1,205 road users who were ticketed manually, were ticketed through a static ETLE of 9,482 violators and ticketed through ETLE mobile, totaling 95,833 violators. Meanwhile, 64,082 traffic violators who received reprimands were reprimanded.

"So, compared to 2022, the trend of violations recorded in Operation Patuh Candi this year has increased by around 100 percent," he explained.

During the Patuh Candi 2023 operation, the Central Java Police also recorded 692 accidents with details of 30 people died, 13 people were seriously injured and 849 people were slightly injured.

"Meanwhile, the total material losses due to traffic accidents reached Rp2,214,300,000,-," he explained.

The number of traffic accidents recorded in Operation Patuh Candi in 2023, increased by three percent compared to the incident during Operation Patuh Candi in 2022.

"In 2022, during Operation Patuh Candi there were 669 accidents with 21 victims dying, 15 serious injuries, and 812 minor injuries. So in 2023 there was a three percent increase trend," he explained.

Although Operation Patuh Candi was completed, the Head of Public Relations appealed to the public to continue to improve driving ethics and comply with traffic rules.

"The biggest factors that cause accidents are human error or human error, good traffic ethics and residents' vigilance while driving, having an impact on the decrease in the number of traffic accidents on the road," he said.
