The National SAR Agency (Basarnas) team evacuated the bodies of a Singapore-flagged cargo crew (ABK) who died of a heart attack in the waters of Aceh Besar District.
Head of Banda Aceh Basarnas Ibnu Harris Al Hussain said the victim was named Imam Maksum (48), an Indonesian citizen.
"The victim is a crew member of the Singapore-flagged MV Wan Hai 517 cargo ship. The ship sailed from Hamad Harbor in Qatar to Singapore Harbor," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, July 20.
Previously, the Banda Aceh Basarnas received information from a shipping agent that a crew member of the MV Wan Hai 517 was sailing from Qatar to Singapore.
The victim was reported to have had a heart attack and was unconscious on the cruise on Thursday (20/7) at around 12.30 WIB. The victim needs immediate medical evacuation.
Based on this information, the Banda Aceh Basarnas deployed an evacuation team. The evacuation was carried out using the KN Kresna 232 SAR ship. At around 12:45 p.m., KN Kresna 232 moved to the evacuation point from Ulee Lheue Port, Banda Aceh City.
"KN Kresna and MV Wan Hai 517 finally met at the evacuation point in the waters of the Bengal Strait, Aceh Besar District. The evacuation point distance is about 6.89 nautical miles from Ulee Lheue Port," he said.
After the two ships docked, the Banda Aceh Class II Health Quarantine team boarded MV Wan Hai 517 and examined the victim.
The results of the examination showed that the victim experienced respiratory failure, so the victim stopped breathing and the heart stopped.
