Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo inaugurated the Integrated Nuclear Radiology & Oncology Building, Stem Cell Laboratory, as well as the administrative building and parking area of Dr. Moewardi Hospital on Tuesday 11 July.
Ganjar said the construction of the building and the addition of these facilities were efforts to improve services to the community.
"We are trying to develop additional facilities, and today we inaugurate the Integrated Radiology and Oncology, as well as the Stem Cell Laboratory which is also being developed. Hopefully the service will be better," said Ganjar after the inauguration.
Ganjar explained that Dr Moewardi Hospital has been a reference place and an educational hospital. Based on data from Moewardi Hospital, patients who seek treatment do not only come from the Surakarta or Solo Raya area.
A number of patients from East Java and Yogyakarta were also treated to Dr. Moewardi Hospital. Therefore, it is appropriate to provide facilities for better patient services.
"But I ordered Moewardi, who has good resources, of course, to develop his medical scientific side, to be able to develop the facilities, more sophisticated equipment and supporting infrastructure facilities," he said.
Ganjar hopes that patients who come to Dr. Moewardi Hospital will receive safe and comfortable services, at affordable costs according to directions from President Joko Widodo.
Ganjar said that about a month ago President Jokowi had conveyed the impact of many Indonesian citizens (WNI) seeking treatment abroad. This phenomenon resulted in Indonesia losing foreign exchange up to USD 11.5 billion or equivalent to IDR 170 trillion per year.
"At least I feel what President Jokowi has said about our spending to seek treatment abroad, it's up to hundreds of trillions. Why then we don't invest for ourselves. This is one of the things we are trying to respond to from what the President has said," explained Ganjar.
The Stem Cell Laboratory at Dr Moewardi Hospital is not the first in Central Java. Ganjar said that in Central Java there were already many practicing doctors and laboratories of Stem Cell, for example in Semarang.
"That's why Moewardi tries to facilitate it, so that later people will come to use or come sharing to develop knowledge about this," he said.
Director of RSUD Dr. Moewardi, Dr. dr. Cahyono Hadi, Sp.OG said, the Tulip Nuclear Radiology and Integrated Oncology Building of Dr. Moewardi Hospital consists of 9 floors. The building, which costs around Rp. 118 billion, is used for inpatient services, outpatients, as well as nuclear radiology and oncology therapy.
Meanwhile, the Stem Cell Laboratory, which was built at a cost of Rp. 11.2 billion, is on the 5th floor of the Flamboyant Building at Dr. Moewardi Hospital. This laboratory was built with the aim of producing Punca cells.

The administrative area consists of rooms for structural officials and administrative staff, Medical Staff Group (KSM), and a committee at Dr Moewardi Hospital occupying the 8th to 11th floor.
