After His Duties In Papua, President Jokowi Spends The Weekend In Yogyakarta

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo returned to visit Malioboro Street, Yogyakarta, on Saturday (8/7) night, when the atmosphere at the tourist location was crowded with residents.

Based on a written statement from the Press, Media and Information Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat on Sunday (9/7), President Jokowi appeared relaxed wearing a red long-sleeved shirt out of the Yogyakarta Presidential Palace, at around 21.15 WIB.

The arrival of President Jokowi suddenly surprised people who were also visiting and spending Sunday nights on Jalan Malioboro.

One of them is Saras, a community who gets the opportunity to meet and take selfies with President Jokowi. He did not expect this opportunity to come when he was shopping in the Malioboro area.

"I was just choosing bags, how come a lot of people shouted, when someone said it, Mr. Jokowi, I just ran. I waved, you told me to come forward. I love you for you," said Saras, quoted by Antara.

Similarly, Daris, a student from Cilegon who was studying in Yogyakarta also admitted that he did not expect to meet President Jokowi in person. In fact, he also got a T-shirt from President Jokowi.

"Alhamdulillah, I am happy here, until I was shaking, I got a t-shirt from Mr. Jokowi, thank God I was able to meet the community, very good, very harmonious Mr. Jokowi here," said Daris.

Not only the community, traders in the Malioboro area were also surprised by the arrival of President Jokowi.

Dadang, one of the clothing traders in Teras Malioboro 2 also expressed his gratitude for President Jokowi's visit.

"Kaget, di Teras Malioboro Pak Presiden mau masuk, untuk Pak Jokowi terima kasih sudah masuk di Teras Malioboro 2, tetap sehat, tetap semangat," tutur Dadang.

After traveling around and greeting the community and traders in the Malioboro area for about an hour, President Jokowi returned to the Palace.
