Thieves Desperate To Steal Money At Wedding, Bekap Victim When Caught

The Kudus Police, Central Java, reminded residents to be aware of the new mode of theft by taking advantage of the busyness of homeowners holding weddings by ensuring valuables are stored in a safe place.

"We will instruct the Bae Police to remind residents who want to hold a wedding or other celebration to ensure the safety of their homes. The theft case during the wedding took place in Peganjaran Village, Bae District," said Head of the Bae Polres Kudus Police AKP Imam Sukirno, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 4.

At least, he said, residents who held wedding parties, especially at home, to appoint one of their relatives to monitor the safety of their homes.

The disclosure of the theft case by utilizing the busyness of the owner of the wedding ceremony in Peganjaran Village, he said, was a new mode so that it should be a common vigilance.

"The perpetrator with the initials TW (28) who is a resident of Wedarijaksa, Pati Regency, is still being investigated," he said.

In carrying out the action, the perpetrators who claimed to be mobile traders were only alone.

The family who held the wedding also did not know him, so the perpetrator's movements became the attention of a number of people, including when he entered the room and took some money.

Dwi Oktavianti, one of the witnesses, revealed that the perpetrator had been seen pacing back and forth since the morning and his arrival coincided with a group of brides accompanying him so that the bride's family ignored him.

"When I entered my room, I was suspicious because I happened to be in the room with a bag containing money. When I checked, it turned out that in the room there was a perpetrator opening his own bag," he said.

He immediately checked the money in his bag, it turned out that Rp200 thousand was lost. The perpetrator was later called that the money was lost.

"The perpetrator actually smothered my mouth and asked to be silent. Then my money was returned plus Rp. 100,000 so that I would remain silent. However, I didn't want to, then my perpetrator grabbed his stomach and shouted for help from the residents," he said.

Hearing the screams for help, residents finally arrested the perpetrator and had time to get the residents' tantrums before being arrested by the police.
