A British Citizen Who Persecuted Policeman In Bali Thrown Into Prison

DENPASAR - Denpasar District Court Judge sentenced a foreign national (WNA) from England Stephen Michael Jamnitzi (39). This foreigner was found guilty of abusing a member of the Kuta Sector Police.

Judge Ida Ayu Nyoman Adnya Dewi stated that the foreigner born in Chelmsford, England was found guilty of committing a criminal act of mistreatment of victim Adhi Waluyo who is a member of the Criminal Investigation of the Kuta Sector Police, Bali.

"The defendant Stephen Michael Jamnitzi was sentenced to prison for two years and six months reduced while the defendant was in detention," said the judge as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 4.

The judge's demand is two months lower than the demands of the Badung District Prosecutor. Previously, on Thursday 11 May 2023, the Public Prosecutor's Office of Badung charged the defendant Stephen Michael Jamnitzi with imprisonment for two years and eight months.

The thing that burdens the defendant SMJ in his decision is that the defendant was convoluted in giving testimony during the trial and causing the victim to be injured.

After listening to the reading of the judge's decision, the defendant SMJ went berserk and did not accept the judge's decision it interfered with the proceedings a little. Therefore, the panel of judges decided to cut off the Zoom connection with the defendant SMJ so that the trial would continue.

Regarding the judge's decision, the defendant's legal adviser Stephen Michael Jamnitzi stated that he would file an appeal.

Meanwhile, Badung District Prosecutor Imam Ramdhoni and his friends stated that they accepted the judge's decision.

In the indictment read by Public Prosecutor Imam Ramdhoni and his friends in the previous trial, the chronology of the crime committed by foreigners from England began with a report that Stephen Michael Jamnitzky (39) did not want to pay the food and beverage bill ordered at The Pad Bene which is located at Benesari Street, Legian Village, Kuta District, Badung, Bali.

He was then secured by the Kuta Police. After arriving at the Kuta Police Station, the person concerned was still under the influence of alcoholic beverages and screamed for his return.

Then they were taken to the Criminal Investigation investigator's room and asked to sit quietly. However, after being in the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kuta Police, Stephen Michael Jamnitzky stood at the door of the investigator's room and screamed to be sent home.

Considering the situation that was no longer conducive, Ady Waluyo, who at that time as an investigator, put Stephen Michael Jamnitzky in the cell.

Moments after Stephen Michael Jamnitzky was already in the cell, victim Adhi Waluyo opened the cell to talk to Stephen Michael Jamnitzky. That's when Stephen Michael Jamnitzky immediately attacked the victim by calling the victim a victim in the face area using his head.

Then the perpetrator attacked the victim's witness Adhi Waluyo by hitting her face several times and kicking the victim's face until the victim was unconscious.

As a result of this act, the victim suffered injuries, bruises on the face, bleeding in the eyeball, and the victim suffered a broken tooth.
