Jokowi: Police Like Sapu Lidi, There Should Be No Blocks

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) reminded the Police to unite and synergize. Like a broomstick, everyone must be neat and straight.

This was conveyed by President Jokowi when giving a mandate at the 77th Commemoration of Bhayangkara Day at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium today, Saturday, July 1.

"The National Police institution is like a broomstick. Each lidi must be clean, each lidi must be straight, must be strong which must be tied up with the spirit of unity and synergy," said Jokowi.

"There are no more blocks, there can no longer be soap operas," he continued.

Jokowi said the Bhayangkara Corps has a tough task to protect, protect and serve the community. However, they must be serious because they are monitored.

"Now everything can be recorded. Disseminated. The slightest steps of the Police cannot be covered up anymore," he said.

Furthermore, Jokowi also mentioned that the challenges of the National Police in the future will be even more difficult. "The problem of kamtibmas must be closely monitored, handling issues must be quickly guarded, national priority programs and the development of the capital city of the archipelago must be seriously guarded," he said.

So, in the future there are many things that must be improved because these challenges require alertness and speed, mastery of technology and innovation, and good public communication.

In addition, Jokowi also reminded the importance of paying attention to the quality of human resources (HR) within the Police.

"The quality of human resources must be maintained since recruitment. The promotional system must be improved, the supervision system must be tightened, the disciplinary system must be strengthened," he concluded.
