Carbit Firecracker Explosion At Ringinrejo Mosque, Kediri, 5 People Injured

KEDIRI - Police Resort (Polres) Kediri, East Java, handled an explosion of carbit firecrackers that occurred at a mosque in Ringinrejo District, Kediri Regency which resulted in five teenagers being injured.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kediri Police, AKP Rizkika Atmadha, said that his party was still investigating this case. Currently, the team is trying to ask for statements from a number of witnesses, including victims.

"We received the report from the alleged explosion of firecrackers. Currently, it is still under investigation," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, June 30.

Police officers have gone to the location to conduct a crime scene (TKP), and have also secured a number of evidences from the location.

Kasdi (60), one of the mosque administrators at the TKP, said the explosion occurred near the Darussalam Mosque, Nambakan Village, Ringinrejo, Kediri Regency, ahead of Eid Al-Adha 2023.

Initially, he said, at around 03.30 WIB, there were a number of teenagers who brought plastic packages containing carbit which were planned to be given up to celebrate Eid al-Adha. However, he did not know why the carbit suddenly exploded.

"For celebrating Eid al-Adha. The plan, he said, was to blow it up on the street," he said.

In that incident, five teenagers became victims, including the initials MR (18), MS (17), RS (18), AS (19), and NP (18). All residents of Nambakan Village, Ringinrejo District, Kediri Regency.

One teenager had to be referred to the hospital because he was seriously injured. Meanwhile, the other has received medical treatment and outpatient treatment.

Meanwhile, due to the explosion, a number of facilities in mosques and madrasas were damaged, especially in the glass, ceiling, and roof of the mosque's galvalum.

"The damaged ceiling of the mosque, madrasah ceiling, galvalum. The roof of the madrasa is also severe," he said.

To anticipate things that are not desirable, he said, his party has now installed a police line at the scene.
