Pekanbaru Transportation Agency-Satlantas Intensify Patrols To Prevent Illegal Racing

PeKANBARU - Riau City Transportation Service (Dishub) together with the Pekanbaru Police Traffic Unit, Riau made preventive measures to minimize illegal racing in the local area.

The head of the Pekanbaru Transportation Agency, Yuliarso, said that his party made efforts to prevent illegal racing on a number of roads that were mostly carried out at night on certain days.

"Because we are in the city traffic forum, of course, we will support the Satlantas agenda. Illegal racing is a phenomenon that occurs in the city, so we take preventive measures together," said Yuliarso as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, June 30.

He said several efforts had been made to anticipate the action of the street racing. Among them are carrying out efforts to campaign for traffic safety to socialization carried out with students.

That's because the results of the raid conducted by the Pekanbaru Police Traffic Unit some time ago, the majority of those caught were teenagers and were students.

"We must collaborate, because there are limitations of authority and action. So there are several elements that we involve, there are schools, communities, and parents to provide socialization," he said.

In early June, the Pekanbaru Police Traffic Unit secured 80 motorbikes indicated illegal racing at several points in Pekanbaru City. The Head of the Pekanbaru Police Traffic Unit, Kompol Birgitta Atvina Wijayanti, explained that this was done following up on public reports.

"On average, the driver caught in this control is still young with a modified vehicle. Such as using a Brong exhaust, not using a valid motorized vehicle/TNKB number sign, and cannot show the STNK," he said.

Controlling the illegal racing action was carried out at several times which were considered prone to disturbances in Kamtibmas, namely in the afternoon, evening until early morning. The locations targeted for the raid were Jalan Diponegoro, Jalan Sudirman, Jalan Cut Nyak Dien, Jalan Tambusai, Jalan Arifin Ahmad, Jalan HR Subrantas, and other locations.
