Mahfud Regarding Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School, There Are Crimes And Police Investigate

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD said there was a criminal element behind the problem of the Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School. So, the Police will handle it.

"First, there is a criminal act, there are several things that report criminal acts into the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs and conclusions from various studies later and there are also official reports that will be submitted to the Police," Mahfud told reporters, Saturday, June 24.

However, it has not been conveyed in detail about the elements or criminal offenses. It is only stated that sooner or later the form of violations of the Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School issue will be announced.

"Now the National Police will handle the crime, what articles will later become the basis for continuing the criminal process which will be announced in due course," he said.

"But the Police will take action because from all the entrances that are included in the report, the criminal offenses are very clear and the elements have been identified, they will only be clarified later in the summons or examination," said Mahfud.

Although he opened a criminal element that was allegedly violated, Mahfud indicated that the violation was similar to the public's view regarding the Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School.

However, it was emphasized that the violations that occurred were still suspected. Thus, it must be proven first by the investigation and investigation process at the Police until the trial in Court.

In the report, the context of blasphemy was allegedly carried out by Panji Gumilang regarding Al-Zaytun's teachings which were deemed to deviate from Islamic teachings.

One example of Al-Zaytun's teachings that are considered deviant is greetings. Then, allow women to be preachers. Then about the Qur'an called made by the Prophet Muhammad.

The report has been registered with the number LP/B/163/VI/2023/SPKT/BARESKRIM. So, in the report, Panji Gumilang was suspected of violating Article 156 a of the Criminal Code.
