JAKARTA - Director General (Dirjen) of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Silmy Karim said that his party continues to carry out operations related to the large number of foreign tourists (tourists) who misuse residence permits to work illegally in Bali even though they only have tourist visas.

"If it's a mistake, we will continue to operate, right," said Silmy Karim as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 21.

His party also took legal action in the form of deportation for foreign nationals (WNA) in Bali who were found to have violated immigration rules.

In fact, Silmy said that since serving as Director General of Immigration in January he had deported hundreds of troubled foreigners in Indonesia.

"We have deported hundreds of people. Yes, gradually. I just entered January, I can deport hundreds of people, so it will be in line with the development of the culture," he said.

Because, said Silmy, prosecution in the form of deportation cannot be done immediately.

"Only then if we get the report, then we deport it. Right, we can't take it right away. If he has complete documents, for example he enters as a work visa, he can get it," he said.

In addition, said Silmy, problematic foreigners in Bali not only regarding immigration, but also other violations.

"Make no mistake, if the problem on the highway is not an immigration matter, he doesn't wear a helmet. Keep opening a shop, it's not an immigration matter, right to open a shop there must be a permit. If you want to open a motorbike rental, you have to have permission, who gives you permission, if he's not licensed, it means he's wrong, there must be something controlling it, please," he said.

He also said that his party would also issue agoldenvisa or residence permit scheme through investment in the near future as an effort to curb foreign foreigners in Indonesia.

"That's why I now order that we will regulate thegoldenvisa later, we arrange it so that there are no irregularities. If the investor visa has been around for a long time," he said.

Previously in a hearing (RDP) with Commission III of the DPR, Silmy said that his party had carried out 819 immigration administrative measures throughout 2023, of which 401 cases were deported.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR, Ahamd Sahroni, asked for a firm stance against foreigners in Bali who had problems, whether viral on social media or not.

"Let us work together to carry out maximum cleaning and supervision so that Bali does not fall into an atmosphere where foreigners do not know our culture. The Director General and his team carry out tactics for tighter and anticipatory supervision," said Sahroni, who led the meeting.
