MPR Accommodates The Proposal Of Majalengka Residents To Make The Founders Of The NU Teachers Association A National Hero

Deputy Chairperson of the MPR H. Yandri Susanto emphasized his determination to support the proposal of the residents of Majalengka Regency in West Java to make KH Abdul Chalim a national hero.

"As the founder of Pergunu (Union of Nahdlatul Ulama Teachers, ed.) and one of the three founders of Nahdlatul Ulama with KH Hasyim Asy'ari and KH Abdul Wahab Chasbullah, the services of KH Abdul Chalim are very clear because they are neatly stored in the history of the Indonesian nation," Yandri said in his statement, Sunday, June 18, confiscated by Antara.

For Yandri, there is no reason that he can be used to refuse the awarding of the title of hero to Abdul Chalim.

Yandri believes that the thoughts and examples of KH Abdul Chalim will be continued by the Pergunu ranks.

"In the future, schools in the Nahdlatul Ulama environment will definitely be taken into account more," Yandri Susanto added.

He made this statement when he was a keynote speaker at the Halakah Alim Ulama event in the context of Mukernas V, the Central Leader of the Nahdlatul Ulama Teachers Association (PP Pergunu). The event took place in the Leuwimunding District Square, Majalengka Regency, West Java, Saturday (17/6).

As many as more than 30,000 Islamic boarding schools and more than five million students in the Nahdlatul Ulama educational environment, according to Yandri, are proof of the large work of NU in the nation's development.

Therefore, he is of the right view that the government should give awards to the Pergunu community.

"There is no doubt about the work and services. Although many of them are still less prosperous, even not prosperous, they continue to contribute to the world of education," said Yandri.

He emphasized that their teaching duties were not solely for money. With his hard work, Pergunu has contributed to uniting the nation and participating in building world civilization.

"If this country wants to be more cultured, it must pay more attention to the welfare of the teachers," said the former chairman of Commission VIII of the DPR.
