The Armed Clashes Are Broken Again In Sudan

JAKARTA - Violence clashes between the Sudanese military and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia have occurred again in Sudan's capital Khartoum, a number of eyewitnesses said.

They claimed to have heard artillery fire and heavy and light weapons in the city of Bahri in the south of the capital.

Military aircraft were also seen flying over the city.

"The military aircraft are targeting RSF troops who are on the streets and in residential areas," an eye witness told the Anadolu news agency as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, June 13.

There has been no statement from the two parties who have clashed over the clash.

The fighting between the two warring groups again occurred Monday after the 24-hour ceasefire mediated by the United States and Saudi Arabia ended.

According to the medical team, about 1,000 people were killed and thousands of others injured in clashes between the military and the RSF that have occurred since April.

Previous ceasefire agreements were often violated. Both parties accused each other of committing violations.

The difference of opinion between the warring parties regarding the integration of RSF into the military has escalated in recent months. Integration is the main requirement in the Sudanese transition agreement with political groups.

Sudan has not had a functional government since 2021 after the military dissolved Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok's transitional government and declared a state of emergency.

The military move was condemned by the political forces in the country which called the move a "coup".

Sudan's transition period, which began in August 2019 after President Omar Al Bashir was removed, will initially end with the early 2024 elections.
