JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) together with local governments and local officials evacuated 14 doctors, nurses, midwives and health workers participating in the Nusantara Sehat program who served in Tambrauw Regency, West Papua, due to threats of security by the Papua Armed Criminal Group (KKB).

"This morning our colleagues were taken to Sorong after receiving threats from the KKB. We thank the local government and local officials who swiftly assisted in the evacuation," said the Director General of Health at the Ministry of Health, drg. Arianti Anaya in a written statement received in Jakarta, Sunday.

The Nusantara Sehat program is an intervention program from the Ministry of Health to build integrated health which includes preventive, promotive, and curative aspects through special assignment of team-based health workers with certain numbers and types to improve access and quality of health services at Health Service Facilities in disadvantaged areas, borders, and islands (DTKP) as well as Health-Problemed areas (DBK).

"We will continue to instruct and remind the Regional Governments that fall into the DTKP and DBK categories to maintain the safety and comfort of the health workers assigned to this Healthy Nusantara program because they are very much needed to provide health services to the community," said Arianti.
