Golkar Yakin MK Objective Decides Election System

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the Golkar Party, Ahmad Doli Kurnia, believes that the judges of the Constitutional Court (MK) will be objective in deciding the judicial review related to the electoral system.

"We don't want to make assumptions. We still believe that the nine constitutional judges still have conscience, think clearly, objectively see reality, maintain the reputation of the Constitutional Court," said Doli Kurnia in Jakarta as reported by ANTARA, Monday, June 5.

He said that in 2008 the Constitutional Court had issued an open proportional election system decision.

Golkar, said Doli, since December when there were several parties who submitted judicial reviews related to the electoral system, had asked the Constitutional Court to remain consistent that the 2024 election should use the current electoral system, namely an open proportional system electoral system.

"And at that time also Golkar took the initiative to meet with seven other factions in the DPR, even the General Chairperson of Golkar at that time met with seven general chairmen of other political parties. His attitude is clear and consistent until now," said Doli.

He believes that the Constitutional Court will hear the aspirations of the majority of the people regarding the electoral system. According to him, the people want to be directly involved in the election by choosing their representatives through an open election system.
