A premeditated murder perpetrator with the initials RF aged 24, a resident of Pakis District, Malang Regency, East Java, faces the death penalty.

Malang City Police Chief Kombes Budi Hermanto said the suspect RF was charged with Article 340 of the Criminal Code (KUHP), Subsidiary Article 338 of the Criminal Code and Article 351 paragraph 3 with a maximum threat of the death penalty.

"The suspect faces a maximum sentence of death or life imprisonment, or a maximum of 20 years in prison," Budi said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, June 5.

According to him, with the fact that the suspect brought a knife before meeting the victim at the Araya Housing Bridge, Araya Megah Street, Blimbing District on Thursday (1/6), the suspect had planned the incident.

"The person concerned brought a knife from a cafe, this knife was taken and is under the control of the suspect. It means it has been planned, because it has been brought (the knife)," he said.

"The victim and the suspect already know each other. The victim is close to the suspect's ex-girlfriend," he said.

The officers secured a number of evidences in the incident, including a kitchen knife with a length of 30 centimeters, two motorcycles, two mobile phones and clothes used by the victim.
