BOGOR - Bogor City now officially has a mascot. Right on the 541st Anniversary of Bogor (HJB), the mascot named Rusa Bogor or RuBo was officially launched by the Mayor of Bogor, Bima Arya, on Saturday, June 3.

To bring up this mascot, a survey study was previously conducted for 8 days from 13-20 April 2023. There were 3,169 respondents, 81 percent of residents of Bogor City and 19 percent of residents outside Bogor City.

The results of the survey study in the form of a questionnaire were then damped. The design competition held by the Bogor City Government (Pemkot) on April 28-10 May 2023 was attended by 88 participants nationally involving judges from artists, academics and community representatives.

The RuBo design was designed directly by Mahdi Albart, a resident of Mount Batu, West Bogor District. Meanwhile, the RuBo costume was made by Romas, a cosplay costume craftsman who is already an expert from Malabar, Central Bogor District.

Bima Arya conveyed that RuBo belongs to all residents of Bogor City and can be produced by all MSMEs in Bogor City as merchandise.

"So if people from Jakarta and their surroundings go to Bogor, they are not only looking for unyil, talas and others, but also RuBo merchandise," he said.

He emphasized that there is only one RuBo in Bogor City, it should not be on the streets or intersections. If people who want to invite RuBo are welcome to write to the Bogor City Tourism and Culture Office (Disparbud), such as for special events, introducing official programs/OPD and other events.

Bima Arya said that in the future RuBo will become an ambassador brand for Bogor City and also an encouragement for the activities of the government and the people of Bogor City, including when Bogor City hosted the 2026 West Java Provincial Sports Week (Porprov).
