Banda Aceh Needs Addition Of 14 Judges When Status Rises To Class I Special

The Banda Aceh District Court needs additional judges to avoid being hampered by case handling due to lack of judges. Public Relations of the Banda Aceh District Court, Zulkarnaen, said that currently the Banda Aceh Court has 12 career judges and adhoc judges for corruption and industrial relations as many as five people. "In the future, the Banda Aceh District Court needs an additional 14 judges. Moreover, later the status of the Banda Aceh District Court will advance from Class IA to Class I Special," said Zulkarnaen in Banda Aceh, Antara, Friday, June 2. Accompanied by the Deputy Chairperson of the Banda Aceh District Court, Teuku Syarafi, Zulkarnaen said the needs of the judge would consist of six judges in general criminal careers. Then, three judges for corruption careers, two judges for industrial relations careers, and two adhoc judges for corruption and one adhoc judge for industrial relations. The Banda Aceh District Court, said Zulkarnaen, in addition to the general court also oversees the courts of corruption and industrial relations courts. The industrial relations court handles cases related to employment issues. In order to investigate the shortage of judges so far, Zulkarnaen said the Banda Aceh District Court did not impose a judge on corruption with general criminal cases. "Moreover, in the future there will be many corruption cases. So, the judges who are focused on corruption cases. For judges who handle corruption cases, they are reduced in handling general criminal cases," said Zulkarnaen. According to Zulkarnaen, if the judge handles too many cases, it is feared that the trial will be hampered and the judicial process will take a long time. "The principle of the judiciary is at effective time and cost. Therefore, we hope that there will be additional judges to the Banda Aceh District Court, so that the judicial process will run effectively," said Zulkarnaen.
