NAGAN RAYA - Nagan Raya Police, Aceh denied the news of the siege of the house of a protest figure against the gold mine in Beutong Ateuh Banggalang District.

"What we have surrounded are two houses of drug dealers with separate locations, this siege has nothing to do with the refusal of PT Bumi Mineral Energi's gold mining business permit (IUP) by the public," said Nagan Raya Police Narcotics Head, Aceh, Ipda Vitra Ramadi, quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, May 28.

The execution carried out by fully armed police is purely a development activity of a narcotics crime case, which is currently being handled by the Nagan Raya Police.

Vitra said the siege and raid carried out by personnel from the Nagan Raya Police Narcotics Investigation Unit was the house of a man who is currently on the wanted list (DPO) with the initials Y, a resident of Blang Puuk Village and NS DPO in Blang Meurandeh Village.

The house surrounded by police is located close to the house of a community leader who happened to join in rejecting the mining IUP.

When the siege was carried out, he said, police personnel were also accompanied by local village officials.

The arrest attempt made by his party was based on the development of three drug dealers, who had previously been arrested by the police a few days ago and are currently being secured at the Nagan Raya Police Headquarters.

"Now the Beutong Ateuh Banggalang area is the special attention of the Nagan Raya Police through the Narcotics Unit, which aims to eradicate the drug mafia in Beutong Ateuh Banggalang," he said.

He explained that Beutong Ateuh Banggalang, Nagan Raya, had been the police's target because the area has often found marijuana fields with very large land.

"The house that was searched was the house of a drug dealer DPO which had indeed been the target of the operation, we searched this house regarding the discovery of a marijuana field a few weeks ago," he said.
