JAKARTA - Chairman of the Legal and Supervision Division of the General Elections Commission (KPU) Mochammad Afifuddin said his party would conduct checks regarding indications of political funding originating from drug networks.

Afifuddin conveyed this in response to the findings of the Directorate of Drug Crimes at the National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) regarding indications of narcotics networks in political funding in the 2024 General Election.

Afifuddin ensured that the KPU would check reports of fraud in a series of elections.

In addition, Afifuddin also said that the KPU was waiting for the ratification of the PKPU for the Election Campaign Fund, which is currently entering the public test stage.

"Currently, the PKPU has not been ratified. After that, we will check the reports. It could be that there are also reports found by friends from Bawaslu and so on," he said.

Furthermore, Afifuddin encouraged political parties to record all sources of campaign funds to be well described.

"I want to go into detail, the important thing is that the number is recorded, and so on as reflected in how the campaign is carried out, how the campaign funds reflect roughly the amount until the campaign can carry out many activities and so on," said Afifuddin.
