Tanah Bumbu And Kotabaru South Kalimantan Potentially Floods Next Week

BATULICIN - Tanah Bumbu and Kotabaru Regencies, South Kalimantan, over the next week there is the potential for tidal flooding or rising sea water discharge.

"Based on the South Kalimantan BMKG forecast, the potential for tidal flooding in Kotabaru and Tanah Bumbu waters occurred on 19-26 May 2023 from 06.00-10.00 WITA with a maximum height of 2.9 meters," said the Head of the Sub Division of Disaster Emergency at BPBD Tanah Bumbu Mukhtar Halim, reported by ANTARA, Friday, May 19.

He said the tidal flood was caused by the phenomenon of the new moon phase on May 19, 2023, so there is the potential to increase the maximum sea level on the coast of the South Kalimantan region.

In particular, areas that have the potential to be affected by tidal flooding for the next week, namely Tanah Bumbu and Kotabaru Regencies.

This has resulted in disruption of daily activities of the community and transportation around ports and coasts, such as loading and unloading activities at ports, activities in coastal settlements and land fisheries.

"We appeal to all people, especially those living on the coast to always be vigilant to anticipate the impact of the maximum tide of sea water," said Mukhtar.

The BMKG also issued an early warning of weather in South Kalimantan with the potential for moderate to heavy rain which could be accompanied by lightning and strong winds at 21.00 WITA in Kotabaru Regency, South Kelumpang Hulu, Hampang, Kelumpang Hilir.

In Banjar Paramasan Regency, Barito Kuala Regency: Bakumpai, Kuripan. Tapin Candi Laras Selatan Regency, North Laras Temple. Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency Langsat, Angkinang, Kandangan, Simpur, South Daha, North Daha, Loksado, West Daha.

Then, in Hulu Sungai Tengah Haruyan Regency, Batu Benawa, Labuan Amas Selatan, Labuan Amas Utara, Pandawan, Barabai, Hantakan. Hulu Sungai Utara Regency, Panggang Lake, Babirik, Pandan River, Paminggir. Tanah Bumbu Mantew Regency and its surroundings are expected to continue until 23.00 WITA.
