Kendari Police, Southeast Sulawesi has named DPD Gerindra Chairman Andi Ady Aksar (AAA) as a suspect in a criminal case of alleged embezzlement in office.

Kaporesta Kendari Kombes Muhammad Eka Fathurrahman said the determination of the suspect AAA was based on sufficient evidence.

"On May 8, 2023, a case was held and based on the evidence we have found since this report was upgraded to investigation, one suspect has been named as the initials AAA," said Fitrayadi as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, May 19.

Chairman of the Gerindra DPD Andi Ady Aksar was named a suspect in the alleged criminal act of embezzlement of positions in one of the mining companies of PT Kabaena Kromit Pratama (KKP).

"Embezzlement in the position of one of the company in Southeast Sulawesi, namely PT KKP," said Fitrayadi.

The police have sent their first summons to AAA on Saturday (13/5). However, AAA was unable to attend the summons because it was carrying out another agenda outside the Southeast Sulawesi region.

"Today is the schedule for the suspect's examination of AAA, but the person concerned through his colleague said that there were activities in Jakarta that could not be abandoned, so we scheduled the examination on another day, hopefully on Monday or Tuesday we can carry out (AAA examination)," he said.

The AAA suspect is subject to Article 374 of the Criminal Code concerning embezzlement in office with a maximum penalty of 5 years in prison.
