2 Kg Of Crystal Methamphetamine And 1,489 Confiscated By The Riau Islands Police In 2 Months

BATAM - From April to May 2023, the Riau Islands Police succeeded in disclosing the circulation of 10 kilograms of methamphetamine, 2,855.09 grams of marijuana leaves and 1,489 ecstasy pills.

The Head of the Riau Islands Regional Police, Inspector General Pol. Tabana Bangun said that the disclosure carried out by the Barelang Police was also successful in arresting several suspects.

"Regarding the arrest of 10 kg of crystal methamphetamine wrapped in tea-packed plastic brand "alinlan jinn xuan", officers managed to secure 4 suspects with the initials AR, DP, EH, and MY who were arrested on Beliau Kecil Island, Batam City on May 3, 2023," said Inspector General Tabana, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 15.

He explained that in carrying out the action the suspects received wages of Rp. 30 million to Rp. 40 million to bring the methamphetamine from Malaysia to Jombang, East Java.

Then for the arrest of 1,489 ecstasy pills occurred on April 7, 2023 and managed to arrest three suspects with the initials MS, B and E.

"This '1,489 ecstasy pills are planned to be sold to someone who has now been designated as the People's Wanted List (DPO) for Rp180 million, so that the suspects get a profit of Rp5,000,000 per person," he said.

Then for the arrest of 2,855 marijuana on April 3, 2023, officers arrested one suspect with the initials BDS.

The Regional Police Chief said, based on the results of the BDS suspect's statement that his marijuana was obtained by the suspect who is still being searched in Medan City.

According to him, the catch will continue to increase supervision to reduce the number of drug trafficking that has entered the Riau Islands.

"This area borders the high seas, and here there are so many small islands whose supervision is lacking so that many criminals are used. Therefore, we will increase supervision so that these items cannot enter the Riau Islands," he said.
