JAKARTA - Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin brought up his struggle while serving as Minister of Manpower and Transmigration during the Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) era. The deputy chairman of the DPR revealed that the May Day commemoration which was set as a national holiday < through Presidential Decree No. 24 of 2013 was welcomed by the workers by holding a number of activities, both social and demonstrations in various regions. According to him, making May Day a holiday is a sign that workers are a national priority as well as a form of state presence in their midst. "The state gives honor to workers, that's why May Day is always a holiday now," he said. Therefore, the Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives Coordinator for People's Welfare (Korkesra) encouraged workers to make the best use of May Day with useful social actions. "The May Day commemoration must be used by social actions, as well as those that are no less important to build togetherness in industrial relations so that they are more harmonious nationally and benefit all related parties," said Cak Imin. Cak Imin also appreciated the solidarity of workers to improve their welfare. He assessed that the demonstrations held regularly every May 1 were none other than as a form of the solidity of workers fighting for mutual welfare. "Basically, the commemoration of May 1 may be carried out every year, carried out with various variations. There are those who are grateful, there are demos.
