Helping Indonesian Citizens From Evacuated Sudan, Muhammadiyah Deploys Task Force Team

The Muhammadiyah Central Executive has deployed a Task Force team to assist the evacuation and repatriation of Indonesian citizens (WNI) affected by the conflict in Sudan, some of which have arrived at the Jakarta Hajj Dormitory.

"WNIs who have arrived from the airport immediately receive an antigen swab test service and get intervention from the health team who is also under the Crisis Center Team of the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs," said one member of the Task Force PP Muhammadiyah team, Yuli Mumpuni, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, April 29.

Yuli said the Muhammadiyah Task Force consisted of several representatives of the assembly and institutions appointed by PP Muhammadiyah including the Muhammadiyah Resilience Institute, LazisMu, the International Relations and Cooperation Institute (LHKI), and the Diktilitbang Council.

In addition, Muhammadiyah also involved the Health Team of the Jakarta Cempaka Putih Islamic Hospital, the Pondok Kopi Health Team, and Sakapura.

It was reported that 385 Indonesian citizens had been repatriated in the first batch and some of them had received treatment by the Muhammadiyah Task Force team and the Jakarta Cempaka Putih Hospital.

He said the Muhammadiyah Task Force team collaborated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture in handling the form of psychosocial assistance, health services, data management and information as well as assessments.

"The Muhammadiyah Task Force team has been formed to respond to needs with our special attention to younger siblings studying in Sudan," he said.

Until now, the Task Force team is still waiting for other Indonesian citizens who are already on their way home while intervening in children and pregnant women.

"The Health Team that has been deployed works alternately and it is certain that the logistics needs will be sufficient until May 2", he said.

Previously, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi conveyed that the evacuation and repatriation of Indonesian citizens from Sudan to Indonesia were carried out in stages and gradually.

Of the 897 Indonesian citizens who were evacuated by the government to Indonesia, 385 Indonesian citizens arrived in Indonesia, Friday morning at 05.46 WIB. The first group to be repatriated consisted of 248 women, 137 men, and 43 children.

The second group will be repatriated from Jeddah to Indonesia on April 29, and is scheduled to arrive in the country on April 30, 2023. The last group, which closed the evacuation, will return to Indonesia from Jeddah on April 30.

"As of now, there are 111 Indonesian citizens who are still in Port Sudan. Today they will be flown to Jeddah by Indonesian Air Force aircraft," said the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Retno explained that the evacuation of Indonesian citizens from Sudan to Indonesia took place in an relay, because they responded to the situation on the liquid and dynamic ground.
