JAKARTA - The flow of vehicles on the Tasikmalaya-Garut route was hampered because the road was affected by landslides that occurred when it rained in the Kutawaringin area, Salawu District, Tasikmalaya Regency, West Java, Monday night.

Head of the Emergency and Logistics Division of the Tasikmalaya Regency BPBD Kurnia Trisna confirmed the landslide incident on the homecoming route connecting Tasikmalaya Regency with Garut in the Salawu area.

"Yes, Kutawaringin, Salawu, was disturbed but not too long ago, now it is open again, but the road is still slippery," said Kurnia.

He said heavy rain accompanied by lightning had hit the Tasikmalaya area, then a landslide occurred carrying soil and water material to cover the road at around 18.30 WIB.

The incident did not cause any casualties, only disrupting the flow of vehicle traffic from the direction of Garut to Tasikmalaya or vice versa, so joint officers tried to clean up avalanche materials and open lanes so that vehicles could pass.

"A team and tanks were deployed for spraying, cleaning up materials," he said, quoted by Antara.

He conveyed that a number of officers until midnight were still trying to clean up the avalanche material on the road and make traffic arrangements.

Road users who pass the route, he said, are advised to be vigilant and careful because the roads are still slippery, and always follow the directions of the officers who are currently on standby at that location.

"We are advised to be careful, there are still people there," he said.

The impact of landslides on the road was that the flow of vehicles from Garut to Tasikmalaya and vice versa was hampered, vehicles had to queue and speed up their vehicles when passing through landslide locations.
