PMI Medical Officer Handling Four Victims Drowning In Curug Larangan, Sukabumi

JAKARTA - Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) personnel from Sukabumi Regency helped handle and provide first aid to four tourists who drowned in Curug Larangan, Cisaar Village, Sukabumi Regency, West Java on Monday (24/4).

"There were no casualties in the incident that occurred at the waterfall tourist attraction in Girimukti Village, Ciemas District," said Chairman of PMI Sukabumi Regency, Hondo Suwito in Sukabumi, quoted by Antara, Monday.

Hondo added that the four victims were identified as Fauzan (19), Dafa (20) and Wahyu Perdana residents of Sukamajubaru, Kelurahan/Kecamatan Tapos, Kota Depok, West Java, as well as one other victim Aldis (20), a resident of Cibarengkok Village, Simpenan Village/District, Sukabumi Regency.

According to information gathered from PMI personnel, this incident began when the three tourists from Depok were swimming and while taking photos around the Curug Larangan waterfall. However, one of them, Fauzan, was carried away and drowned.

The two colleagues, Dafa and Wahyu, who saw the incident, tried to help but instead drowned. Seeing the drowning of local tourists who happened to be traveling in Curug, Aldis immediately helped the three tourists from Depok and managed to save them.

Allegedly due to exhaustion, Aldis suddenly fainted and immediately received first aid by PMI personnel who were on standby not far from the scene. Fauzan is in good health, while the other three victims Dafa, Wahyu and Aldis must be rushed to Palabuhanratu Hospital because of their weak condition.

"All the survivors, it's just that three of them had to be evacuated by PMI ambulance from Sukabumi Regency to the hospital because they needed medical treatment," added Hondo.
